“Let it Flow for Grover Washington Jr” at PDX Jazz Festival
Eldon “T” Jones & N Touch made their PDX Jazz Festival debut by honoring Grover Washington Jr at Revolution Hall March 1, 2019 (as covered by the Portland Tribune and given a nice shot out by Seattle’s KNKX). Washington’s own celebrated bass player and music director Gerald Veasley flew in from Philadelphia to be part of the band. Eldon captured the sound and essence of Grover Washington’s playing on tenor and soprano saxophones and received compliments from Gerald Veasley for honoring the spirit of Grover’s music. The Delvon Lamar Organ Trio out of Seattle opened the night, and Marcus Strickland joined on saxophone on select songs including “Just the Two of Us” which Eldon sang with LaRhonda Steele, Ruby Jones, and Linda Tellis-Kennedy.
The N Touch band featured Anthony Jones (drums), Zack Poelwijk (keyboard), Chris Turner (keyboard), Darius Fentress (percussion), Jonathan Schuler (guitar), and Torry Ward (bass).
